Did you know? There is a day (and maybe another) of the year dedicated to Bowser!

We all know that Bowser's biggest enemy, Mario, has his own dedicated holiday on March 10th, "Mario Day", because that date looks like "Mario" when written as "MAR/10" - it would eventually be recognized by Nintendo in the mid-2010s.

However, the Mario fandom would eventually find a way to celebrate Bowser - they decided to make August 4th "Bowser Day", which would become an unofficial holiday dedicated to King Bowser himself - as August is the 8th month of the year, the date August 4th references World 8-4, the final level in the original 1985 Mario game, where Mario fights the real Bowser. On Bowser Day, which is celebrated worldwide and is also part of Koopa Week, people would share fanarts, memes, and even videos related to Bowser.

In Japan, however, there is another day dedicated to Bowser, held on September 8th - with September being the 9th month of the year, the date 9/8, in the Japanese language, would sound like "Kuppa" (クッパ - the character's Japanese name) because of a technique known as "goroawase" (語呂合わせ) which involves associating words/symbols with numbers. With that being said, September 8th is also dedicated to Gukbap (국밥), the Korean dish that Bowser was first named after.
